Picking up the discipline…

Returning to the craft after a time away.

It’s been some time since I practiced the discipline of daily publication, and I notice myself acutely aware of audience and respect for the time and attention of any would be readers.

I’ve contemplation of topics which have been stewing their way towards the page, and at once feel the need to give them a due space to be shown in the light of day. Which is really just to say, I’m taking on this new discipline (an old discipline) in the context of a schedule which has not been so full in years, and rather than clearing the desk to write, the exercise is more of fitting in the discipline.

This seems to me a practice of beginning to early etch the groove which is to become a deeper habit, with more volume to contain an actual conveyance of reflective thought and consideration to the audience implicit in any broadly published material.

For now, and with a sense of leaning in to learn the dimensions of time and word and page and publish all over again, I think these early efforts seem most likely to effect a description of feeling in the moment.

Perhaps this will prove poetry enough to accommodate the reader’s attention. In the meantime I will pray with your patience that something more coherent to a longer thread begins to emerge, and that in the durable reading of these pages will prove an actual journey along lines of learning and development and towards some accumulation of merit and benefit for a broader collective.

Among other things of late, I’ve been reconnecting with some old friends. For anyone looking to scratch an itch for good prose, I found my friend Russell has been penning a well-worn craft and hope that others are enjoying his words quite as well as I have.
